The Lemon Project

The Story Behind the Organization – How We Started

On the afternoon of December 21, 2019, our lives were changed forever. At age 24, Ahjanee “Lemon” became a statistic of the “Silent Epidemic” suicide. We were shocked and completely devastated. It was our worst nightmare. Why? We loved him so much, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. We were taken by surprise, and none of this made any sense. We were numb, and the pain we continue to feel is beyond words.

It was our mission to find a way to keep his name alive. In January 2020, we decided to start a foundation to help young men and women who suffer from depression, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide.

A Lovable Soul

Ahjanee “Lemon” was loved by his family and friends. If you knew him, you adored him. He had a way of making you smile and laugh. He was such a comedian and had an infectious smile with dimples that accented his handsome face. People just gravitated toward him. He was a very intelligent and talented person who loved art, music, dogs, children, and the outdoors. At age 4, he expressed interest in playing the piano, which he enjoyed. Years later, he became a fanatic about basketball and was a very good baller.

In high school, at age 15, he became an entrepreneur and started his first business, a unisex streetwear clothing line called Stix Unlimited. Stix was a nickname given to him by his Grandfather. His clothing line featured his unique original graphic art designs.

We relaunched his clothing line in 2020, and you can purchase from his website at www.stixunlimited.com. In the last years of his life, he only wore his designs. No matter where he went, he was always the life of the party and the light in the room.

We Are Here For You

Did you know that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the world for those aged 15-24 years? This statistic surprised us as well. In August 2020, The Lemon Project was established to help young men and women who are suffering in silence from depression, mental illness, and thoughts of suicide. Suicide can be prevented, and we are on a mission to spread the word on how to help those who are suffering.

Together we can help stop this epidemic. We will never get the opportunity to see, hug or talk to our precious loved one, Ahjanee “Lemon” again. However, he will always be forever in our hearts. We love you, Ahjanee Lemon. When life gives you lemons…squeeze harder. We thank you so much for your support. Let’s fight this epidemic together.
